Reviews and Protocols
Mining the sheer volume of research available today on any given topic can be overwhelming for healthcare providers trying to keep pace with best practices. The role of synthesis research is to bring together the best evidence on a topic, whether randomized controlled trials or expert opinion on an emerging phenomenon, appraise that evidence, and provide a piece of secondary research that interprets, grades, and synthesizes the information to inform policy or practice. The methodology prescribed by JBI is to first develop a protocol that outlines why the topic deserves to be investigated and how the systematic search will find and review the evidence to draw conclusions. Here are examples of the protocols and full reviews completed and published at our center.
