Originally from the Chicagoland area, Erin attended Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School followed by Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. During her four years as an undergraduate, she competed as a varsity athlete with the world class synchronized skating team earning three team national titles and three individual national titles. She continued her education at Miami by completing master's degree in exercise physiology and health sciences at Miami in 2004 with a master’s thesis focused on the biomechanical physiology of the amateur competitive cyclist. Matriculating into the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in the fall of 2004, Dr. Klein served as the President of the SCPM student chapter of the AAPSM and the National delegate for SNPMA. Dr. Klein completed a considerable amount of research as a podiatric medical student and graduated the only Swanson Research Scholar in her class. Her research investigated the concept and biomechanical consequences of the CLEAR cleat - a cycling cleat to allow diabetic patients with forefoot ulcerations to exercise while offloading the ulcer site.
Dr. Klein completed a PM&S 36 Podiatric Medicine and Surgical Residency at the Northport DVA Medical Center in Northport, New York. During her three years there, she implemented limb salvage rounds in an effort to better patient care, designed and implemented the current academic curriculum and schedule and forged lasting relationships across multiple disciplines including orthopedic, plastic, and vascular surgery at a new surgical rotation site. Currently, Dr. Klein is a Fellow in Reconstructive Foot & Ankle surgery at the Weil Foot & Institute in Des Plaines, Illinois and serves as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Applied Biomechanics and Surgery at Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in North Chicago, Illinois.
